Canadian Tire Head Office
Located in the bustling downtown neighbourhood of Yonge and Eglinton in Toronto, Ontario, Canadian Tire wanted their reception lobby to be a showcase of its long standing history by proudly displaying samples of their old advertisements, merchandise, company videos, etc. Canadian Tire approached Applied Electronics with the goal to update its facility with new presentation technology.
On the main wall adjacent to the entrance of the lobby is a large 80-inch Sharp LCD display monitor which runs archival footage, with the possibility of accommodating future expansion with digital signage software system. Accompanying the 80-inch display monitor in this area are two 42-inch Sharp LCD monitors intended to exhibit historic Canadian Tire advertisements and videos about the company’s history. Located above the reception desk are three narrow bezel 40-inch LCD monitors to display daily messages and additional archival media as required.
All the display monitors are fed content from pro-grade DVD players. Serving as a dual-purpose space, their Cafeteria / Town Hall is equipped with a full audio system for voice reinforcement and background music. It also boasts a motorized Da-Lite HD format Cinema Contour projection screen and a Christie Digital LW555 5,000 ANSI lumen widescreen LCD projector for presentation purposes. Two 32-inch Sharp LCD monitors are also incorporated to display daily news programs and to enhance the presentation system during high capacity assemblies.
Both the Lobby and Lunch Room/Town Hall systems are fully automated with Crestron CP2E compact control systems with ethernet. All the displays and the projection system are linked back to a Central Rack Room via an Extron MLS608 hybrid switcher and Extron MTP Series Twisted Pair solution which minimizes signal loss and the overall cabling requirements and cost.
