as Service Manager at Applied Electronics

Well it seems like just yesterday when a handsome young man named Allan Light began working for Applied Electronics. “Just yesterday” was March 5th, 1973!

Al has made his own history with Applied Electronics. He was integrally involved in the first Canadian Olympics in 1976 and again in 1988. He has seen 100’s of projects that have shaped the Canadian Broadcast industry. Al can tell you many stories from this business we now call our Audio Visual Systems Division.

Indeed Al has helped launch so many careers at Applied Electronics and in the industry. He has literally seen the growth of the company and offspring who now run it. In every career that is as long as Al’s, there have been good times and challenges. Al has been our stalwart through the challenges and helped author so much of the success.

On June 30, 2016, Al retired from Applied Electronics to live waaaay up north on a new property with his wife, Mary. While he leaves Applied Electronics, he will always be a member of the Applied Family, and we owe him an immeasurable thanks for his wonderful career with us.

AL will be coming back on a temporary basis in September 2016 to help with the transition of the Service organization and our year-end.

So for now, simply au revoir.

~ Paul Stechly, President, Applied Electronics Limited
