SMPTE Appoints Paul Stechly as New SMPTE Finance Vice President
Mississauga, Ontario – January 30, 2015 – The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers® (SMPTE®), the worldwide leader in motion-imaging standards and education for the communications, media, entertainment, and technology industries, announced that the SMPTE Board of Governors has appointed Paul Stechly the new SMPTE Finance Vice President.
Paul Stechly, President of Applied Electronics Limited, is heavily involved with the Toronto Section of SMPTE and is past Toronto Chair and past Canadian Governor. Paul is also a SMPTE Fellow and the Membership Vice President of SMPTE serving a term through 2015.
His involvement in SMPTE began in 2006 on the section level with two-year terms each as Manager, Secretary Treasurer, Section Chair, and Past Chair, Canadian Region Governor, and Sections Vice-President. He has also served on several award and revisions committees. In 2011, Paul was elevated to the status of Fellow of SMPTE, receiving the SMPTE Fellow Membership Award which recognizes individuals who, by proficiency and contributions, have attained an outstanding rank among engineers or executives in the motion-picture, television, or related industries.
Paul enjoys his work with SMPTE and in particular meeting and getting to know the top engineers and executives in the industry.
