FEATURED PROJECTS-DETAILS
Bell Mobility Network Control Centre
Bell Mobility, a division of Bell Canada Enterprises, is one of Canada’s largest providers of innovative wireless communications solutions such as PCS and cellular, web-browsing and data, two-way messaging, paging and airline passenger communications services.
In 1992, Applied Electronics was contracted to design, from the ground up, and install a CRT projection system for Bell Mobility’s new control centre located adjacent to the QEW highway in Toronto. After 12 years of 24/7 operation, Bell Mobility was ready for an upgrade to meet the increasing demands of the centre’s operations. Once again, it commissioned Applied Electronics to modernize their control centre with the latest in digital projection technology. Since the system was initially designed with future expansion in mind, retro-fitting 4 high resolution DLP projection units was accomplished with minimal modifications and disruptions to the operations of the control centre staff. Existing paper maps were replaced with six 40” (diagonal) LCD flat panel displays which provided infinite dynamic display options. In addition to the control room modifications, Applied Electronics also upgraded their existing conference with a new front projection system.
