CITT is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance and hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs, and excises tax rulings.

Applied Electronics completed an audio/visual system build in two court rooms for the Tribunal. Audio reinforcement and system automation were clear requirements for the court rooms which needed system upgrading. Configuring and fine tuning the audio reinforcement system in the court rooms was initially a challenge due to the long and narrow room structure and low ceilings which hindered the quality of the room’s acoustics. The sound reinforcement system was configured around a DIS digital conference system which also included a simultaneous interpretation system. With over 20 DIS stations in each court room, each station was complete with a microphone and Request-To-Speak capability. Located between chairs in the audience are custom-built listening stations which offer audio of the proceedings in 5 languages. The presentation system in each court room includes two Panasonic projectors, two Da-Lite front projection screens and two 40” Sharp LCD monitors for the live audience.
