Marketing & Communications Administrator (Mat Leave Contract) - Toronto, ON
Applied Electronics Limited is Canadas premiere systems integrator and reseller of professional Broadcast, Post Production and Audio/Visual technology. It is headquartered in Mississauga and operates four regional offices across Canada in Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.This is a Maternity Leave Contract position.
Reporting to both the A/V Systems Division Manager and the Broadcast Division Manager, the Marketing & Communications Administrator will assist in various marketing and communication initiatives for Corporate, Audio/Visual and Broadcast Divisions.
The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker, highly resourceful, exceptionally organized, and capable in multi-tasking and prioritizing projects with extremely tight deadlines. A strong communicator with experience in copy writing and media content development, the Marketing & Communications Administrator will have artistic style, a keen eye for visual appeal, fine attention to detail, a can-do attitude, and takes pride in neat presentations. With outstanding interpersonal skills and business acumen, he/she will work well independently while being a reliable team player who contributes to the operations of the marketing department and the sales team.
Helping to maintain and develop the corporate image, the Marketing & Communications Administrator will refine corporate collateral, build sales tools, administer the marketing budget, and develop marketing strategies to promote the corporate brand, our product lines and events.
Job Duties:
Corporate Literature: Develop content for press releases, proposals, project profiles, brochures, sell sheets, quarterly newsletter, powerpoint presentations, and other marketing & sales collateral.
Website: Regularly update website content for both English and French websites.
Advertising & Media Buying: Work with key stakeholders and creative agency on design of ads; negotiate advertising rates with various publications.
Graphics Design: Create in-house designs for various corporate promotions and events.
Photography: Conduct photography sessions at customer sites, at all corporate events and of various products; maintain photo archive and perform touch-ups using graphics programs.
Event Planning: Plan and coordinate various corporate events; liaise with suppliers for sponsorships.
Marketing Budget: Develop marketing strategies for promotional activities and administer the budget.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
Post Secondary Degree in a related field
2-3 years of experience in a similar role
Advanced computer skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Outlook, Excel, Word)
Competency in Photoshop and Illustrator is essential to this role
Experience with Adobe Flash, ImageReady, PageMaker, Acrobat Professional, LiveCycle Designer, and any other design programs is an asset
Experience in website development and programming is a definite asset
Knowledge in photography techniques and experience working with SLRs
Proficiency in French is a definite asset

Audio Visual Project Manager - Toronto, Ontario
Applied Electronics Limited is a national audio/visual sales and integration company specializing in corporate, government and educational markets. We are currently seeking an experienced Audio Visual Project Manager for our Mississauga head office.This key position within our organization requires a team-oriented individual with a strong, self-directed work ethic along with effective time management and communication skills. As the primary on-site AEL representative, you will be responsible for ensuring that AELs project & installation processes are followed and documented while communicating with the client to ensure a positive customer experience.
An advanced understanding of electrical/mechanical infrastructure and general construction techniques is required. The PM must be able to efficiently manage multiple tasks and possess strong verbal & written communication skills in order to ensure the successful integration of our Audio Visual Systems. Knowledge of industry standard electronic drawing programs (ACAD, Visio) and project management software & methodologies is an asset.
Job Description:
A) Sales Support:
Support technical sales team with system design suggestions and share installation successes & failures
Review proposals for technical accuracy and intended functionality
Assist with the creation and review of initial system drawings, SOW and labour/material estimates
Conduct pre-proposal/pre-install site inspections and document site conditions & requirements
Attend client site meetings with sales representatives as requested
Schedule and chair hand-off meetings between sales & technical resources for large projects
B) Project Management (Preparation/Pre-Install Phase):
Review project design, SOW, equipment list and initial drawings, ensuring technical accuracy prior to commencement of equipment ordering
Provide project labour estimate summaries, target start/finish dates and any critical milestones to Senior Project Coordinator for project scheduling purposes
Assist with creation of cable run lists and project installation materials lists following standard AEL nomenclature
Ensure complete project hand-off package is available for installation resources prior to project start-up
Assist with creation of conduit, termination box and electrical schedule for non-company trades and follow-up to ensure AELs requirements are met
Represent AEL at pre-install project site meetings
Prepare for and participate in internal project meetings as required
C) Project Management (Installation Phase):
Coordinate with other trades to ensure AELs requirements are assigned and completed
Provide Senior Project Coordinator with detailed weekly reports outlining the status of active projects
Through communication with the client, identify project schedule critical milestones, monitor progress and take corrective action to maintain schedule as required
Monitor AEL and contractor resources for proper allocation & efficiency while on-site
Supervise all critical tasks to ensure AEL standards are followed while being completed in the allotted time
Meet regularly with Senior Project Coordinator to ensure that project costs are meeting estimates as project progresses
Provide regular progress updates to client and ensure all concerns are addressed
Ensure installation tasks are completed using Best Practice techniques, consistent with AELs standards
Ensure that accounting and administration receive timely cost and billing milestone information
Maintain Change Order System updates in conjunction with Administration
Responsible for ensuring that employee workplace safety practices follow HOs defined policy
Mentor junior technical staff to provide leadership and guidance, and identify any specific training needs that arise to the Installation Manager
D) Project Management (Completion/Close-out Phase):
Supervise testing/commissioning of completed systems in coordination with client/consultant
Develop, manage and communicate deficiency report and track outstanding items for completion
Provide as-built documentation to CAD dept as part of close-out documentation, if required
Supervise preparation of system manuals for customer and AEL archive as required
Provide/supervise technical training to clients when required
Work with Senior Project Coordinator to ensure any unused project equipment/materials are returned from job site to AEL warehouse and properly documented for return to manufacturer or return to stock
Coordinate tasks to meet consultants requirements for special close-out procedures as required for larger projects
Provide electronic copies of all close-out documentation to Senior Project Coordinator for archiving purposes
Participate in Project Post-Mortem reviews with Senior Project Coordinator as required

Audio Visual Technician, Level 2 - Calgary, Alberta

We are currently seeking an experienced Audio Visual Technician, Level 2 for our Calgary office.This key position within our organization requires a team-oriented individual with advanced technical knowledge of audio visual or broadcasting equipment and integrated systems. Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary education related to electronics and knowledge of IP networks and infrastructure. Certification or proven knowledge and proficiency in programming Crestron or AMX (or similar) audio-visual control systems will be a definite asset. Intermediate Technical staff must be able to work in a self-directed environment and be able to direct junior staff, be proficient in audio and video installation best practices, have good mechanical skills and be willing to travel when required.
Responsibilities:
- To organize materials and time in an efficient manner
- Maintain the project change order procedures
- End user system training when required
- Prepare system Manuals for customer and AEL archives
- Maintaining effective lines of communication between customer base and sales staff to ensure continuity of information
- Keep Project Coordinator informed of current and projected status on all projects on a weekly basis
- Regularly maintain labor management procedures using the on-line accounting system
- To provide technical support to the sales staff
