Decades since its establishment in 1958 by Michael Stechly, Applied Electronics is now owned and managed by his two sons and daughter, Paul, John and Susan. Their passion, commitment and industry experience represent their father's legacy and these attributes are at the forefront of Applied Electronics' reputation and success.Paul Stechly, President
Paul Stechly is a graduate of the University of Waterloo in Economics and completed post graduate work at the University of Western Ontario.
Paul joined Applied Electronics in 1983 when he founded and ran the Audio Visual Division, until assuming the President's role in 1998.
Paul has been heavily involved with the Toronto Section of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). He completed a two year term as Chair of the Toronto Section in 2006 and continues in the active position of Past Chair.
Paul is a forward thinking, proactive leader and holds seven patents in multi-media technology.
Susan Stechly, Vice President – Operations
Susan Stechly graduated from the University of Guelph with an HBSc in Marine Biology. She worked in this field for a number of years before joining Applied Electronics in 1988.
Susan has been involved in project management, finance, technical services and customer service since joining the company and is now heading up all of these departments.
Susan also is an energetic, hands-on individual who believes that if you are going to be a truly effective Operations Manager and gain the respect of your subordinates, you had better get your hands dirty and learn it from the ground up. She has done it all.
JOHN STECHLY, VICE PRESIDENT – IT AND FACILITIES
John Stechly studied Business Administration at McMaster University and joined the Applied Electronics team in 1984, initially involved with sales, service and support in computerized newsroom systems.
He has been actively involved in the corporate IT department since the start of his career with the firm and has been performing extensive control system programming for the Audio Visual Systems Division.
Currently, John supervises the corporate IT department and oversees the company's facilities in all five corporate locations - Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, and Mississauga (Toronto – head office).
