Canon Canada Builds Its New LEED Gold Certified Canadian Headquarters in Partnership with Applied Electronics
Reflective of Canon’s commitment to the environment and sustainability, their new 180,000 square feet state-of-the-art corporate headquarters in Brampton, Ontario stands five storeys high and is LEED Gold certified. Kyosei-inspired, the building acommodates 500 employees from their consumer, medical, security and print-production imaging domestic business divisions.
Their new Canadian headquarters inspires collaboration and innovation, with open concept work spaces around the outer perimeter of floors, providing breathtaking views of the 18 acres of beautiful landscape on which the building stands. Meeting and collaboration spaces are oriented around the central atrium that has a glass skylight. Raised access flooring provide quick access to all mechanical and electrical services.
Canon contracted Applied Electronics to design, supply and integrate the latest audio visual technologies into collaborative spaces throughout the five floors of the building.
The main floor includes a beautiful lobby with a public showroom featuring Canon’s latest products, a customer service lobby, a large main conference theatre that can be partitioned into two smaller conference rooms for corporate presentations, and a full-service cafeteria.
The second floor has diagnostic and repair laboratories, training facilities, and employee amenities such as a fitness centre with windows overlooking the pond, and a reflection room for quiet retreat and meditation.
The top three floors house various sized meeting and collaborative spaces, and employee work stations.
Other employee amenities include a two-tiered terrace, garden, trail around storm water management pond, 500 parking spaces with one level belowgrade parking, and bicycle parking.

Main Conference Theatre
The main conference room boasts a large 189” Draper Access Series V tab-tensioned front projection screen and two 109” Draper Access FIT Series V 16:10 format projection screens positioned perpendicular to the main screen to accommodate smaller audiences when the room is partitioned. From either of the two 7” Crestron touchpanels, the Crestron room automation and control system operates the three Canon 6,000 ansi lumen projectors and Dalite projector lift systems, the Canon 1/3” CMOS pan-tilt-zoom camera, the NEC 42” LED LCD display monitor, TOA line array speakers, and 12 Tannoy 8” surface mount speakers.
Video Conferencing Room
The video conferencintg room utilizes a Crestron DigitalMedia presentation system, Polycom RealPresence EagleEye HD video conferencing system with Polycom SoundStructure C16 conferencing speaker phones, a Draper 109” 16:10 format projection screen with a Canon projector, two 80” NEC LED LCD display monitors, Tannoy 8” surface mount speakers, JBL line array speakers, 10 Shure gooseneck desk mics, and a Crestron control system with 5.7” wireless touchpanel.
Spread across the top three floors, an additional 21 meeting rooms are availble for booking through the central room scheduling system. Seven types of meeting rooms, accommodating group sizes of six to 12 people, are each equipped with a 42” NEC LED LCD display monitor, a Crestron media presentation system, a Polycom conferencing system, Extron mini audio amplifiers, Tannoy 8” surface mount speakers, and a Crestron room automation and control system with a 7” Crestron wall mount touch panel. The larger meeting rooms are additionally equipped with one to two 109” Draper Access FIT Series V 16:10 format projection screens and ceiling mounted Canon projectors.
Office of the President
Both the President’s 10-seat meeting room and 20-seat executive boardroom are equipped with a Crestron DigitalMedia presentation system, a Polycom RealPresence EagleEye HD video conferencing system with Polycom SoundStructure C16 conferencing speaker phones, Shure 180-degree boundary microphones, Tannoy 8” surface mount speakers, and a Crestron control system with 10” wall mounted touchpanel.
Canon began moving employees into the new building in May 2016. The building was completed and fully operational in December 2016.
