Applied Electronics Modernizes Celebration Church’s Powerful Worship and Multipurpose Community Space Endearingly Known as the Dome
Celebration Church is known as a modern house of worship in Edmonton, Alberta that embraces technology to connect the community in powerful worship services with contemporary worship music. The Church’s live event staff create incredible worship productions that are displayed on multiple large-screen displays around the church. Worship services are streamed live to remote audiences around the world, as well as recorded, edited and made available on demand through the Church’s website.
Celebration Church underwent renovations of the building located adjacent to the Main Sanctuary, referred to as the Dome. The 20,000 sq. ft. Dome provides ample multi-purpose spaces for Celebration Church’s children and youth ministries’ activities. In addition, every room in the building doubles as a beautiful presentation space.
Celebration Church approached Applied Electronics to design, supply and integrate latest in audio visual solutions into the Dome’s auditorium, multi-purpose gymnasium, upper loft, three classrooms, a dynamic main foyer, and a central equipment room.
The Auditorium features an Allen and Heath Digital Audio Mixer, Sennheiser wireless mic system, dual Christie DHD555-GS laser projectors, and electric wall-mounted projection screens. All video feeds are from the centrally located Crestron Matrix Switcher located in the Central Equipment Room. The Auditorium is primarily used for conducting presentations and musical performances, but can also accommodate an overflow of the Main Sanctuary.
It was key for Celebration Church’s production staff to have all the new AV systems in The Dome building work in sync with the AV systems in the Main Sanctuary building. Applied Electronics built long fiber runs between the buildings so that The Dome would receive all the same audio and video feeds from the Main Sanctuary. To ensure this is accomplished, Applied Electronics created a dedicated Dante audio network in the Church’s AV system to control all the audio feeds coming from either building, as well as network them together to allow the user to share audio from either building.
The audio system in the Main Sanctuary was also upgraded with versatile front fill compact loudspeakers and a Lab Gruppen 4-channel installation amplifier. Each channel has an individually configurable voltage peak limiter, which allows the output to be optimized for any loudspeaker load.
The upgrade was completed in April 2018, in time for Celebration Church’s well-attended Easter Service.
