Applied Electronics Provides Prescription for Productivity to MD Financial Management

MD Financial Management part of the Canadian Medical Association, provides Canada’s physicians with personalized, expert advice and best-in-class solutions to meet their total wealth management needs—from the first day of medical school right through to retirement.
After a fire caused damage to its facility in Ottawa, MDFM took advantage of the opportunity to change the way it worked. It implemented a new unified communications strategy using Microsoft’s videoconferencing and instant messaging platform, Lync. MDFM chose Applied Electronics to supply and integrate the latest in presentation and unified communications technology into nearly 50 meeting spaces in its newly re-built facility, all with a focus on collaboration.
Applied Electronics also provided a final systems design based on MDFM’s initial concept.Twenty-five meeting rooms were built with a low-power draw LED display and Extron TeamWork collaboration solutions to speed up meeting start up times and provide greater return for time invested in those same meetings.
Applied Electronics outfitted an additional twenty meeting rooms with Lync and SMART Room Systems, to provide team collaboration capability for up to 20 people at a time, potentially located in different offices.
With multiple inputs as well as conferencing capability leveraging Lync and a separate audio conferencing system, Applied Electronics also designed and equipped MDFM’s large Learning Centre with
presentation and communication technology, including the Polycom CX7000 Lync appliance, to permit multi-user collaborative training sessions.
As minimal time is required to begin a meeting or presentation, it has resulted in a significant increase in efficiency and productivity for MDFM employees and customers.

Expanding Across the Country
With the success of its new Ottawa head office integration, MDFM continued to look to Applied Electronics for it’s expertise, as it wanted the same meeting and collaboration spaces to be made available to all employees across all of its54 locations in Canada.
From May 2016 through to January 2018, Applied Electronics upgraded the AV systems in all of MDFM’s existing regional offices, as well as integrated new AV systems into its brand new regional branches. These included offices in Ottawa, Hamilton, London, Oakville, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Gatineau, Halifax, St. John’s, and Calgary. In this period, Applied Electronics equipped 12 offices with Lync enabled meeting rooms, client meeting rooms, bistro collaboration spaces, and digital signage systems. Boardrooms and meeting rooms are also equipped with Barco ClickShare wireless presentation systems for trouble-free, stress-free presenting.
Applied Electronics will continue to roll out the collaboration systems to the
remaining MDFM offices over the next few years.
