Designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects, the Richard Ivey Building at the Ivey Business School, Western University won an Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) 2016 Award for Design Excellence.
The OAA awards recognize the innovative skill of Ontario architects in creating spaces, buildings and communities that respect and enhance the environment and enrich human activity.
"Congratulations to Hariri Pontarini Architects and the Ivey Business School on this prestigious win," says Mike Dalton, Vice President of the Audio Visual Systems Division at Applied Electronics. “It is a true testament to the innovation, creativity and skillset of the architects who designed this beautiful building, and Applied Electronics is proud to have had the opportunity to work with these visionary designers to incorporate audio visual and unified communications technology into the educational and collaboration spaces throughout the building.”
Ivey Business School awarded Applied Electronics the audio visual integration contract in the construction of their new LEED Gold level certified Richard Ivey Building in 2011. Phase I of the newly constructed building was completed in summer of 2011 and many staff members and some graduate students began moving into the south & east corners of the squared building. Phase II (north & west corners) was completed in summer of 2013 and Ivey held its official grand opening on September 9, 2013.
