Twenty-five million Canadians a week count on Shaw Media for their news, information and entertainment. Shaw Media, part of Shaw Communications Inc., proudly operates Global Television and 19 of the country's most popular specialty channels, and their online companions, including Food Network Canada, HGTV Canada, HISTORY, Slice, National Geographic Channel and Showcase.  Shaw Media also offers viewers strong local and national news programming from coast to coast.

Shaw Media reached out to Applied Electronics to provide a new video display wall solution for their master control room, which monitors all 19 channels with numerous feeds broadcasted across Canada. The master control room previously had segmented video display walls composed of mixed technologies from different manufacturers.  Shaw Media desired a more dynamic yet ergonomic setup for its master control operations staff that would offer a simplistic view of the video wall from which to control and monitor all the feeds.

Applied Electronics proposed a consolidated, seamless display wall solution from Barco that met the requirements of the Shaw Media team, including an extensive evaluation process where key Shaw Media engineers conducted a manufacturer site visit in Anaheim, California, to gain insight on the selected technology and Barco’s product development, quality control and test measures.

Applied Electronics designed, supplied and integrated a complete video display wall control system composed of seven Barco OverView MVL-6715 industry-standard 67” SXGA+ 4:3 LED video wall systems into the Shaw Media master control room. The OverView MVL-6715 is an easy to operate 4:3 LED-lit projection module that was designed to offer the typical detail and brightness needs in SXGA+ resolution for demanding small to medium-sized control rooms.  The curved display wall allows for maximum view of the content from any angle within the control room space, which enables increased efficiency and productivity.
