SickKids Hospital’s Learning Institute – Simulation Centre
The Learning Institute is the focal point for education activities at SickKids. As an academic health sciences centre, it has been operational since 2007 and opened its doors at its new location across the street from The Hospital for Sick Children in October 2009, showcasing their programs with a series of interactive tours for staff and media. Trainees participating in the Simulation Program, for example, are faced with scenerios of a baby who is in critical condition and time is of the essence. The programs are intended to enhance and support all education currently ongoing at SickKids. The Learning Institute is a collaborative effort and their programs have been co developed with many partners within SickKids as well as partners external to the organization. Nine key Learning Institute programs: Simulation, eLearning, AboutKidsHealth, Community Health Systems Resource Group, Education Research, Interprofessional Education, Library and Archives, Education Evaluation & Assessment Program, Conference Management.
